Message from CONADEE (the National Coordination of Ecuadorians in Spain) for the "International meeting for the right to housing"

The challenging left wing militancy in Greek cities entered the electoral process to undertake the most unequal negotiations ever to have taken place in Europe in recent times. They will not have to be fight alone. They are accompanied by the active solidarity of those European citizens for whom the illustrious demands for change have returned.

Together we will bring about the overthrow of European politicians whose lack of respect for both people and common decency has now been highlighted worldwide. Other Southern Europe countries are facing similar battles and it will be made known that over the next few days a close examination of the Greek negotiations with European “institutions” and the International Monetary Fund will take place in order to challenge them in our own countries and bring about the overwhelming changes longed for by the majority of our citizens. 

Syriza´s policies are alleviating the injustice that has eroded pensions, labour relations and administrative functions as a result of attacks on the dignity and well-being of the Greek population. Further impositions threaten the sustainability of Greece and its people. Everything is at stake.  The previous government violated essential norms of protection of its citizens, violations now applied by the governing Popular Party in Spain.  

Media powers in Greece sought to penetrate the heart of Syriza by convincing followers (many of whom were not in need of humanitarian aid) to abandon it with misleading promises that by doing so, Europe would be benevolent with Greece. However, had Syriza been defeated, the political parties that had previously been inspired by the neoliberal third way, would have found themselves on a dead-end path. Spain is not indifferent to what is happening in Greece.

The Troika (European Commission, Central European Bank and International Monetary Fund) permitted the Spanish financial system, funded by European and US international banks, to blast toxic mortgages at the population, provoking a crisis of unprecedented proportions for millions of Spanish families.  The Bank of Spain (BE) and the National Market Securities Commission (CNMV), both Spanish agencies of control and supervision, looked the other way. Political power, both executive and legislative, paved the way by passing the necessary laws and regulations, outsourced principally from the Ministry of Economy, accompanied by the necessary legal framework.

The Spanish authorities embraced a model of development and generation of wealth that obviously benefited the demands of financial sectors that included those seeking an end to decades of democratic social wellbeing. It is not beyond the bounds of reason to suppose that Syriza could be sacrificed to serve as a vaccine to combat a virus developing in Spain, Ireland, Portugal, Italy and France. Amongst those international financers, whose damaging misdeeds are already subject to exposure, special mention must be made of the following:

That is our way and that is why we are unSTOPpable!  When corruption and savage austerity have taken their leisure in high-level government bureaucracy and Greek bankers have borne the country to the edge of an abyss, the people have organized and voted at the poll stations exclaiming “ENOUGH!”.

This and other victories have installed themselves in the citizens´ consciousness.  Our common enemy aims to batter and destroy the symbol that is Greece for the Southern European countries.  The enemy is now fearful because it knows that WE ARE NOT AFRAID. Our abilities and courage have combined with the experience of other countries around the world.

Spain is a gateway to Europe.  A gateway to a daily battle to stop all evictions and forestall the foreclosures that are the result of thousands of illegal mortgage judicial processes.  We radically oppose the profoundly offensive persecution of the Greek people´s sovereignty and appeal to everyone to defend and demand the respect that they deserve.

Therefore LOUDLY AND CLEARLY WE EXCLAIM OUR REJECTION of the continued offensive in negotiations that reclaim illegitimate and unpayable debts.

STOP THE OUSTING OF GREECE FROM THE EUROPEAN COMMUNITY!

LONG LIVE THE STRUGGLE OF THE SOUTHERN EUROPEAN COUNTRIES.

LONG LIVE LIVING HISTORY AND A BETTER FUTURE FOR THE PEOPLES OF THE WORLD.
